When I saw the headline saying “Hillary Clinton: Europe must curb immigration to stop rightwing populists,” I was like “oh wow, huh, hm, interesting news story, better click on this quickly to get the hot scoop.”
But then I read the article, and she is just blaming another thing for her losing the election.
Two years later, she just goes around looking for people to publicly blame for losing that election.
Europe must get a handle on immigration to combat a growing threat from rightwing populists, Hillary Clinton has said, calling on the continent’s leaders to send out a stronger signal showing they are “not going to be able to continue to provide refuge and support”.
In an interview with the Guardian, the former Democratic presidential candidate praised the generosity shown by the German chancellor, Angela Merkel, but suggested immigration was inflaming voters and contributed to the election of Donald Trump and Britain’s vote to leave the EU.
“I think Europe needs to get a handle on migration because that is what lit the flame,” Clinton said, speaking as part of a series of interviews with senior centrist political figures about the rise of populists, particularly on the right, in Europe and the Americas.
“I admire the very generous and compassionate approaches that were taken particularly by leaders like Angela Merkel, but I think it is fair to say Europe has done its part, and must send a very clear message – ‘we are not going to be able to continue provide refuge and support’ – because if we don’t deal with the migration issue it will continue to roil the body politic.”
The “migrant” crisis of 2015 and the extreme imagery of it – these armies of brown people marching into Europe and then just completely wrecking entire cities – were something that Trump used in his campaign.
So she is just coming up with another reason she lost, because apparently it is very important to her to keep the world updated on how she should have won but because of various other people’s actions she did not. This is kind of a weird one, since she campaigned for repeating this process in America.
And the process is happening even though she lost, apparently.
It would have been interesting if she had said that America should stop accepting refugees because it is empowering Trump, but that wouldn’t really work for her, since she needs to blame something that happened before she lost, and these caravans are a new thing.
On some level, this is just a basic, obvious observation that no one can really disagree with. It is undeniable that right-wing populism is being fueled by massive nonwhite immigration. But it is also true that the goal of the left is to ethnically cleanse white people in their home countries. So I’m certain that no one on the left in Europe or America appreciates Madam Clinton casting aspersions on their grand replacement project.
She really is like a case of herpes. Just a disgusting sore that pops up randomly at the worst possible times for the rest of your life.
