First-degree murder charges have been filed against a Springfield man in the shooting death of a 24-year-old Springfield woman in Grandview late Sunday evening.
Corey M. Cathey, 39, was charged Monday in Sangamon County court in the death of Miranda Goddard.
The Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office was called at 11:07 p.m. Sunday, with a caller telling 9-1-1 dispatchers that a woman had been shot in the head. The shooting occurred in the 2100 block of North Grand Avenue East.
Goddard was rushed to HSHS St. John’s Hospital and pronounced dead at 11:41 p.m..
