This execution was probably done in response to Israel’s actions in Gaza, I assume. Otherwise you’d want to trade the spy.
But any state has a right to execute any spy they find operating on their territory.
An agent of the Mossad, Israel’s intelligence service, has been executed in Iran, the official Irna news agency reported.
“This person communicated with foreign services, specifically [the] Mossad, collecting classified information, and with participation with associates, provided documents to foreign services, including the Mossad,” it said.
It did not name the person.
It said the accused had handed classified information to a “Mossad officer” with the aim of “propaganda for groups and organisations opposed to the Islamic Republic”. It did not say where the alleged handover had taken place.
I don’t see any reason they would make this up.
