People who believe God is on their side can be reckless. I always keep that in mind myself, frankly, as I do believe God is on my side. In fact, I know it.
But I don’t go around threatening to build nuclear weapons.
RT:
Iranian Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alavi said the country’s nuclear program is peaceful, and it will be the fault of others if it is pushed towards the path of creating nuclear weapons.
“The leadership [of Iran] has explicitly stated that the production of nuclear weapons is against Sharia law, and the Islamic Republic forbids it, but if a cat gets backed [into a] corner, it may act as it wouldn’t have acted while free,” Alavi said, as cited by Iranian media.
“If they push Iran in this direction, it won’t be the fault of Iran, but the fault of those who have pushed Iran.”
At the same time, Alavi said Iran’s nuclear program is peaceful and the country does not have plans or intentions to build nuclear weapons in “normal circumstances.” He also stated that the US must immediately lift the sanctions against Iran and compensate the losses from the “illegal” restrictions.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Saeed Khatibzadeh told reporters at a press briefing on Monday that the US must be the first to return to the 2015 landmark deal on Iran’s nuclear program, known as the JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action), as it was the first to abandon it.
“The US was the party to leave the negotiation table and the JCPOA. We wait for the other side to fully fulfill its commitments; then, we will follow the path of returning to our obligations,” Khatibzadeh said.
Under the JCPOA, Iran agreed to severely limit its nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of international sanctions. The accord was also signed by China, Russia, Britain, France, Germany, and the EU.
Iran is basically playing right along with this stage play. Frankly, I don’t think any of their actions are really wrong, they’re doing what they need to do. But what is the purpose of making these outrageous statements, which the Western media can then use?
They apparently believe that they can intimidate America. Either that, or their intelligence services and higher levels of government have been taken over by spies who are giving bad advice.
Ending the Iran Deal was the worst thing Donald Trump did in terms of foreign policy, but I know for a fact that if they wouldn’t have been making those outrageous statements, Trump would have been a lot more likely to say nice things about them.
I am very much against the “different pathways to the same God” gibberish that is spread by the New Age and various other modern entities. I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, period. However, I also don’t believe that God will totally abandon human beings who are born into a culture with a different religion. And I think that Iran is on the side of my God, the real God, in that they are standing up to the murderers of my God.
However, these statements do not help their case. The Western media is going to be able to frame Iran as the aggressor. And you can say “oh well, they did that to Saddam and he was begging not to be invaded.” Okay. But things are a lot different now. And it’s just like – look: it’s just as easy to not say this stuff. Who is the intended audience? Maybe I don’t understand that? Do Sunni Moslems like Iran because they make these statements? From what I’ve seen, Sunnis tend to hate Iran more than they hate Israel, but I don’t know. Maybe that’s changing. Who knows.
As you know, I always imagine if I was advising various world leaders. If I was advising Iran, I would tell them to stop threatening everyone all the time.
This would be my starting point: Everything that Iran does and says should be with the goal of showing the reality that they are not the aggressor, that they are simply doing what they have to do.
There also seems to be a failure of basic situational awareness. Europeans and even countries like Japan understand that Iran is not a hostile country, and want to work with them, and these kinds of statements just allow Jews like Antony Blinken to say “see, I told you so.” These statements are also used to justify things like Canada kidnapping the daughter of the head of Huawei, which makes even China not want to get too deeply involved with them.
There was zero logical reason to back away from the position that the nuclear program is peaceful in nature. Even if everyone knows that’s not exactly accurate, saying it is a courtesy that allows plausible deniability as a starting point. They have just given up plausible deniability for no discernible reason.
You just know that Blinken is making this face right now:
