Well, Iran responded.

And it isn’t a big deal – unless the Trump administration tries to make it a big deal.

No casualties.

Fox News:

Iran fired as many as 15 ballistic missiles into Iraq, targeting U.S. military and coalition forces early Wednesday, officials said, in a major retaliation by the rogue regime after the U.S. airstrike that killed Iranian Quds Force Gen. Qassem Soleimani last week.

Ten missiles hit Al-Assad Air Base, one missile hit a military base in Erbil and four missiles failed to hit their targets, according to a U.S. military spokesman for Central Command, responsible for American forces in the Middle East. The attacks unfolded in two waves, each about an hour apart.

Initial assessments showed “no U.S. casualties,” a U.S. military official in Baghdad told Fox News.

Iran definitely could have done a lot worse if they’d wanted to, and this really shows that they’re trying to give Trump a chance to deescalate.

Trump tweeted out late Tuesday that he’ll be giving a speech on it on Wednesday morning.

The Ayatollah celebrated the attack as if this is the entire response to the recent high-level assassination of Qasem Soleimani.

RT:

An Iranian missile attack against US military targets inside Iraq has humiliated Washington, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has said, urging remaining forces to leave the region.

Khamenei said that the strikes served as a “slap in the face” for the United States, but were not “sufficient” to remove “the corrupting presence of America in the region.”

He stated unequivocally that Tehran views Washington as its enemy.

In a separate statement, President Hassan Rouhani said that the US may have “cut off the arm” of assassinated Quds Force commander General Qassem Soleimani, but Iran would respond by severing America’s “leg” in the region.

So, it looks like Iran is happy to leave it at that for now – even though this was an incredibly conservative response to the US killing their #2 guy.

So this is when Trump has to decide to go all in – or not.

Let’s just hope Iran stays out of Thailand.
