Is the US “Agreement Capable?”

There’s this Cold War era term called, “agreement capable” and it means exactly what it sounds like.

Last year, the Russians said that the US was “not agreement capable.”

This was over Syria, because Trump would say one thing, and then it seemed that the Pentagon or CIA would do something else.

To be honest, I can’t keep track of which agency is for Trump or against him, which ones are undermining him and which ones are playing ball.

All I know is that the State Dept has a mind of its own. And now with John Bolton as the national security advisor, you basically have a guy that does his own thing. And the FBI is clearly against Trump. Idk about the rest.

But what does Trump want?

Well, that’s pretty clear and straight-forward to understand. Trump wants to get a Nobel Peace Prize and be recognized as a master strategist who brought stability to the Korean peninsula.

But Bolton wants to implement “the Libya model.”

After weeks of cheery rhetoric between President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un about the prospect for historic nuclear talks next month, the disconcerting congeniality was punctured on Wednesday when Pyongyang suddenly cast doubt on the summit and placed the blame squarely on National Security Adviser John Bolton.

“It is absolutely absurd to compare the D.P.R.K., a nuclear weapons state, to Libya, which had been at the initial stage of nuclear development,” Kim Kye Gwan, the vice foreign minister of North Korea, said in reference to Bolton’s declaration last month that the 2003 disarmament of Libya should be a “model” for the ongoing negotiations. Those remarks had echoed in the State Department, too. The Libya model, as Kim well knows, didn’t end well for Muammar Qaddafi, who was driven out of power in 2011 after an extensive NATO bombing campaign. The Libyan dictator, who had ruled his country with an iron fist for decades, was later found cowering in a drainage pipe; a graphic video of his last moments shows rebel fighters sodomizing him with a bayonet before shooting him. North Korean leadership has long pointed to Libya as precisely the outcome they are trying to avoid by keeping their nuclear program.

So basically, John Bolton said to Kim: “we’re going to bomb your country and murder you if you trust us and give up your nukes, just like we did in Libya.”

Now that’s some Grade A sabotage.

So Trump is then forced into doing damage control.

The White House has cast the dustup as a mistake, suggesting that Bolton went off book.But diplomats who know Bolton say the remark was nothing short of deliberate, given his longtime advocacy for regime change in Pyongyang. “John Bolton is very strategic, very tough, and unlikely to say things unless he’s thought it through,” said a former senior State Department official who worked with Bolton in the Bush administration, where Bolton, as U.N. ambassador, was one of the loudest cheerleaders for the invasion of Iraq. A current administration official offered a more blunt assessment of Bolton’s intent. “There is only one reason you would ever bring up Libya to the North Koreans,” the official told me. “And that is to tell them, ‘Warning: don’t go any further because we are going to screw you.’” 

In a way, Bolton may end up saving the North Koreans.

He let the cat out of the bag.

I mean, c’mon Kim. Of course they’re going to kill you. There’s no way you’re making out of this thing alive if you play ball, bud.

Look at any country that thought they had a deal with the US and look what happened to them – despite all the promises to the contrary by world leaders, UN resolutions, whatever…

Some more analysis:

Trump must now decide whether to follow Pompeo’s lead—an approach that Trump’s supporters believe could win him a Nobel Peace Prize—or Bolton’s martial path. As Bolton’s Libya comment revealed, however, there is also a third option: one in which Bolton carefully sabotages opportunities for détente, if Trump doesn’t tire of him first.

Even if Trump personally guarantees you that the US won’t attack, you have to realize what the Russkies realized a year ago.

The US is not-agreement-capable. 

I don’t think Trump even has full control of the armed forces anymore. I mean how do we explain this:

It’s got to be either one of the stupidest acts that I can recall or a very wicked plan by Washington neocons to sabotage Korean peace talks.

How else to describe the decision by Big Brother USA and junior sidekick South Korea to stage major air force exercises on North Korea’s border. The prickly North Koreans had a fit, of course, as always when the US flexes its muscles on their borders. Continuing South and North Korean peace talks scheduled this week were cancelled by the furious North Koreans. The much ballyhooed Singapore summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korea’s Kim Jong-un is now threatened with cancellation or delay.

Who can blame the North Koreans for blowing their tops? As Trump administration mouthpieces were gabbing about peace and light, the US Air Force was getting ready to fly B-52 heavy bombers and F-22 Raptor stealth fighters around North Korea’s borders and missile-armed subs lurked at sea.

This means that even if Trump tries to negotiate a peace deal, some faction in the Deep State that wants war decides to launch war exercises.

Again. Not-agreement-capable. 

Kim, I hope you’re reading this.

DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT back down here, big guy.

Any deal you sign isn’t going to be worth the paper you signed it on.

If I were you, I would double-down instead.

They’re basically going to try and kill you at this point anyway. So what do you have to lose. Hit San Francisco first, please.
