They walked under the tunnel of the Lecco railway station, quiet and serene in broad daylight. Then they met this tall, sturdy man in a black leather jacket over his white shirt. They were suddenly hit for no reason. First an 18-year-old girl at the foot of the flight of stairs, jostled as she walked alongside her friends. Then a 56-year-old woman, hit with a fist in the face and tumbled to the ground, banging her head against the wall with a commotative head injury.
The aggressor is a 24-year-old boy from Togo. Identified and taken by Polfer agents who found him near the same railway station and recognized thanks to the witnesses’ descriptions and video surveillance footage.
He chose his victims at random and was unable to explain the reasons for his gratuitous violence. Without a residence permit, he was already known to the police. He was arrested on charges of aggravated injuries and will be subjected to psychiatric examination.
