I hate to say it, but she is 100% correct in this particular analysis.
Not that it’s a hard analysis to make. It’s simply that no one else is making it because no one in the media wants to bring into question the sacred nature of this WWIII kick-off.
Minutes after Donald Trump’s announced U.S. military airstrikes in Syria, Rachel Maddow said on her MSNBC show that no matter how the decision was made, the timing has the appearance of a “wag the dog” situation.
“There are national security consequences to having a presidency that is as chaotic as Mr. Trump’s presidency, that is as consumed by scandal and criminal intrigue as his presidency is,” Maddow said Friday night, referring to special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation and the FBI raid on Trump attorney Michael Cohen, among other things.
According to Maddow, enemies and allies alike may believe that Trump “issued the order to launch this strike tonight, even in part, because… he wanted to distract from a catastrophic domestic scandal that is blowing up at home at the same time.”
“Even if the tail is not wagging the dog, even if you give the president every benefit of the doubt,” Maddow continued, “even if this decision was taken with absolutely no regard for whatever else is going on in the president’s life right now, what else is going on in the president’s life right now unavoidably creates a real perception around the globe that that may have been part of the motivation.”
Maddow called this context “a sad thing,” and “an upsetting thing in terms of American influence around the world.”
Wag the Dog is a film about a president starting a fake war because of sex scandals at home.
Good movie.

Of course, I don’t think Trump’s scandals are real.
Maybe the porn star ones are, and maybe his Jew lawyer really is a criminal – but it’s not stuff he couldn’t overcome. The Russia stuff is obviously fake and I think he’s proved that once and for all by starting WWIII.
But real or not, he did want to distract from these scandals, which were closing in on him, and that clearly played a big part in this.
And of course, this isn’t a fake war like in the movie. This is going to be a very real war. I don’t think that is avoidable now. Whether Trump knows it or not.
Furthermore, some of the people behind the scandals were, I’m certain, telling him they would let up if he did this. Because it is the same people who are hounding him that want a world war: it’s a specific ethno-religious sect in America, which you may have heard of, though probably never in a negative light due to the overwhelming control they have over American media, academia and entertainment industrial complex.
