A judge will decide in September whether to recuse the Sullivan County District Attorney’s office in the case against convicted cop killer Nikolaus Johnson.
Johnson was convicted in 2007 and sentenced to death in the 2004 murder of Bristol Tennessee Police Officer Mark Vance. Officials said Vance was responding to a domestic violence call when Johnson shot him in the face.

The man had been sentenced to death, but the state gave him a stay of execution in 2014.
