A Louisa County woman is dead and her boyfriend faces charges in what authorities are calling a “domestic violence-related shooting.”

Major Donnie Lowe of the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office said a person called to report a possible shooting Thursday night at a house on Lasley Lane in Louisa.

Deputies responded to the residence around 9:30 p.m. and found 39-year-old Rhonda Rowe with multiple gunshot wounds to her chest and arms, which Lowe said came from a small-caliber handgun.

Rowe was pronounced dead on the scene. Her body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Richmond, he said.

He is currently being held without bond at the Central Virginia Regional Jail. He is scheduled to appear in Louisa General District Court on Oct. 7.

No other details about the slaying were released.
