CNN reporter Jim Acosta tweeted a defiant message to Donald Trump from Paris Friday, saying he intends to cover the president’s trip there despite being stripped of White House press credentials.
The reporter tweeted a view of the Eiffel Tower and said: ‘Greetings from Paris where we are on the ground for Trump’s trip to France. #1A’
The hashtag is a reference to the first amendment, which guarantees freedom of the press.
There is nothing in the First Amendment that guarantees press White House press credentials, let alone the right to hold onto a mic and use karate on poor intern females.
If White House press credentials were a guaranteed Constitutional right, anyone could ask for them and have a right to get them.
Conversely, the First Amendment clearly guarantees that the Daily Stormer’s right to have a website, something which CNN actively lobbied against.
CNN has deleted that article, but they did many saying the same thing.
The “private company” argument would not hold up in any true Constitutional court, given that all of these alleged private companies – more than two dozen of them, virtually every America-based registrar – colluded together to attempt to ensure DS wasn’t allowed online.
Jim Acosta is a disgrace.
Acosta’s French message suggests that he will attempt to gain access to events attended by Trump to commemorate the end of World War One even though he no longer carries Secret Service-issued press credentials.
Those credentials are themselves meaningless in Paris, raising the possibility that he will once again be in proximity to the president.
Trump, speaking before his departure, said that he hasn’t decided how long Acosta will be banned from the White House, and threatened to revoke the credentials of other reporters next.
There’s a nonzero chance that the Secret Service is going to find this guy naked on the White House lawn, trying to stare into someone’s bedroom window in the near future.
What defenseless woman is he going to karate chop sexually assault next? Melania?
