Arkansas authorities are searching for a man who pleaded guilty to murder and was given to 22 years in prison, but didn’t return to begin his sentence.
Anthony Antwan Millbrooks accepted a plea deal Aug. 12 for first-degree murder and was sentenced to 22 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections for the 2010 incident, KAIT-TV reported. A judge ordered Millbrooks to return Aug. 22 to begin serving, but he didn’t appear.
“It’s just something I’ve never heard of. It’s brand new to me and I’ve been a sheriff for 26 years. I mean, this guy’s a killer. Things like that shouldn’t happen. It’s one of those unbelievable moments. We did not agree at all. He had a long criminal history and to allow him out is beyond me,” St. Francis County Sheriff Bobby May told KAIT.
Millbrooks is now a wanted fugitive and is considered armed and dangerous, KARK-TV reported.
May told KAIT that Millbrooks was last seen in Jonesboro last Thursday bragging about killing two people.
“He has three tear drops and that means, gang-related, he’s killed three times,” May said. “He’s very dangerous.”
