Mexican Crack Addict Appears in Court for Shooting and Killing His White Friend

David Ramos

“What sort of white man would befriend a spic crack fiend?”, you might ask.

The answer to that question, of course, is a fellow crack fiend.

NewsTimes:

The pre-trial hearing of the man accused of killing his friend while high on crack-cocaine last year was continued Monday to April 27.

David Ramos, 34, of Danbury, is charged with first-degree manslaughter in the September death of Jason Hoffman, of Brewster, N.Y.

Ramos is accused of accidentally shooting and killing the 33-year-old the morning of Sept. 4, in the condo Ramos shared with his mother in the Sterling Woods Condominium Complex. He was arrested Sept. 11.

Gabrielle Rega — a former girlfriend of Ramos — initially tried to pin the slaying on another man, but later admitted that Ramos fired the fatal shot, according to police.

The 27-year-old told police she, Hoffman and Ramos were high on crack-cocaine in the basement of the condo when it happened.

Ramos pulled out a handgun to look at it or wipe the gun down when it “went off,” police said. The gun was found in a storm drain about 40 feet to 50 feet from Ramos’ residence.

Police seized crack cocaine, heroin, a scale and prescription drugs from the scene.

Rega was charged with making a false statement and interfering with a police officer, along with drug charges.

In addition to manslaughter, Ramos is facing possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to sell, use of drug paraphernalia, failure to keep narcotics in original container and resisting arrest charges. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges brought against him.
