This is why you should never leave any visible bags or valuable items in your car.

Gwinnett Daily Post:

Gwinnett police are looking for a man who they say is responsible for at least 11 car break-ins at various restaurants in Duluth earlier this month.

On the evening of March 12, police responded to a half-dozen different eateries on Gwinnett Place Drive, Day Drive and Breckinridge Boulevard after receiving reports of smash-and-grabs, said Cpl. Michele Pihera, spokeswoman for the Gwinnett County Police Department.

“During the thefts, the suspect would exit (his) rear driver’s side door and break into the victim’s cars by smashing a window,” Pihera said. “The suspect’s vehicle is likely a newer model black Kia Optima with a paper registration plate on the back. The suspect is a black male wearing a black hoodie, brown pants, and black shoes. There is no available description of the driver or any other persons inside the vehicle.”

The stolen items included computers, backpacks, clothing, financial documents and other electronics, the majority of which were left in plain sight, Pihera said.

“We encourage all drivers to conceal any item of value in their trunks before they arrive at their intended destination,” Pihera said. “Simply leaving items in a backpack or gym bag on a car seat could invite criminal activity.”
