Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have charged a Gastonia man with murder following a shooting Tuesday, authorities said Thursday.
David Benjamin McCullough, 63, was served with the murder warrant Thursday morning.
At 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to the 4400 block of Ridgevalley Drive, where they found Brian Anthony Kappauf, 43, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.
Kappauf was taken to Carolinas Medical Center, and on Wednesday was pronounced dead.

Police had arrested McCullough at the scene of the shooting, where he was taken into custody without incident. The two men knew each other and been involved in a dispute before the shooting, according to police.
Authorities did not say what the dispute was about.
McCullough originally was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and firearm by a felon.
