Looks like just another worthless no-good wild beast to me, but according to its owners, it was domesticated.

Authorities are investigating an officer-involved shooting at a shopping center in Vinings. Smyrna Police say three officers were justified in killing a man they claim was trying to run them over with a car.

It happened just after 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Goodyear located at 2475 Cumberland Parkway in Cobb County. Police say officers from Smyrna and Cobb County police went to the location to serve a warrant on a probation violation for a man. Police say the man jumped into a Maserati and drove towards officers.

Investigators say that the Smyrna officers opened fire on the man and he died at the scene.

Police say they are unclear if the car belonged to the man.

Three Smyrna officers and three Cobb County officers involved were interviewed by investigators.

None of the officers were injured in the incident.

The Smyrna officer who opened fire on Thomas has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of this investigation.

Family demands answers in police shooting

The parents of Nicholas Thomas say police did not need to kill their 23-year-old son on Tuesday. Smyrna Police, however, maintain that Thomas’s actions put police officers’ lives in danger.

Smyrna Police, with assistance from Cobb County Police, attempted to serve Thomas with a warrant for probation violation. When they arrived at Bob McDonald Goodyear, where Thomas worked, police say he attempted to flee using a white Maserati. Investigators say police opened fire when the suspect drove the Maserati towards them. Thomas died at the scene.

His parents, Felicia and Huey Thomas, tell FOX 5 the probation violation involved a traffic citation. Police have not confirmed that. The investigation is underway. No officers were injured during the incident.

Who was Nicholas Thomas?

There are two, completely different pictures of Nicholas Thomas.

One is the “good kid” his parents describe: The 24-year-old father of a young child, who was “improving himself” with a new job at a Cobb County tire shop. The shop manager says Thomas always came in early and left late.
