Cleate Andrew Davis charred body was found within a burning pick-up truck.

A woman has been arrested and charged with the murder of a man found in a burning pick-up truck.

Shelby County deputies arrested 34-year-old Aleasha Cox after she confessed to her involvement in the robbery of 50-year-old Cleate Davis, which led to his death.

Davis was found in his F-150 pick-up truck in the 7800 block of Mudville Road near Millington. After the fire was put out, his badly burned body was found inside the truck.

According to an affidavit, Davis had two gunshot wounds to his face.

WMC Action News 5 spoke to Davis’ daughters on Christmas Eve. They say their father’s death came just days after the family found out he was cancer free for the second time.

The family said their only question is why. “Just to leave someone burning in a truck,” said Rochelle Weber, Davis’s daughter. “They will have to answer for this one day, and they will have to explain why they did this.”

Morrieo Allen was also arrested for the crime in Memphis on Saturday.

Cox is charged with first-degree murder in perpetration of a robbery. She is due in court on Monday, Dec. 29.

Cox’s boyfriend, Morrieo Allen, 35, is also believed to have played a role in this murder and he is still on the run. The affidavit says that a witness helped to pin-point both suspects. The witness says that he was seen walking away from the burning car.

An active warrant for first-degree murder was issued for Allen.

If anyone has any information on where Allen can be found call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH or the SCSO Fugitive Division at 901-222-5620.
