A 39-year-old man was arrested in connection with the shooting death of a woman in Mount Airy, the Surry County Sheriff’s Office said.
Authorities said they responded to a shooting Thursday in the 200 block of Peele Road. Deputies said they found a woman, later identified as Santana Cortney Paige Brown, 38, dead from a gunshot wound.
Investigators identified Alfonso Ocampo, 39, as the shooter and obtained information that he was in the Greensboro area, the sheriff’s office said.
Ocampo was arrested at a Greensboro home roughly seven hours after the shooting.
