Recently the President of the United States took time from his duties to send ADL a video message congratulating us on our 100th anniversary. We played it for the first time at ADL’s Centennial Summit & Gala — an inspiring gathering of more than a thousand ADL supporters of all ages that just took place in our nation’s capital.
The President hailed ADL’s impact:
“For the past century you’ve stood up for basic human rights for all people, here and around the world … You’ve taught the world that the plight of others must not be met by silence … So this evening is a celebration of advancing justice and equality, and a challenge to carry on that commitment through the trials that lie ahead.”
As if that weren’t enough, Vice President Joe Biden visited our Centennial
Summit & Gala to address us in person.
The Vice President had his own high praise:
“There’s not a single issue that I can think of that has been raised to a national level — about equal treatment, about decency, about how all human beings should be treated — that you haven’t been there … because of you, we are a better, more humane, more decent community … you are the most influential, the most listened to, the most respected organization in this town. You are the conscience of our larger community.”
