A 37-year-old Ottumwa man has been charged with first-degree murder in connection to a suspicious death reported on Saturday, police said.
Preston Odell Martin was arrested around 10 p.m. Saturday following an investigation into the death of 41-year-old Thomas Carlton Foster, who was found deceased in his Ottumwa home earlier in the day.
A news release said Ottumwa police received a call shortly before 3 p.m. for a suspicious death at Foster’s home in the 500 block of Queen Anne Avenue. Authorities found Foster’s body inside the house.

After authorities arrested Martin on the first-degree murder charge, they transported him to Wapello County Jail, where he was being held on $1 million bond.
