The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 36-year-old Lake City man following an intense investigation into the death of 60-year-old Patricia Wood.
Wood was found dead inside her Sands Motel room December 4. Detectives found trauma to her upper body but were unsure how she died.
Investigation lead detectives to the arrest of Dwayne Arnaz Paige Jr., which the sheriff’s office announced Sunday, Dec. 9.
Police say Paige was identified as a person of interest following multiple interviews with family, friends and known acquaintances of Wood.
When interviewed by detectives, police say Paige admitted to killing Wood.
Paige was arrested and booked into the Columbia County Detention Facility without bond on one count of murder.
