Weapon of mass destruction.

This is the new situation.

You get arrested for posting photoshopped images mocking the Jews.

AP:

Federal prosecutors said Thursday a Pennsylvania man created a digital image of himself pointing an AR-15 rifle at a group of praying Jewish men and posted it online.

The image is one of several alleged threats against Jewish, Muslim and black people that authorities say were posted by 30-year-old Corbin Kauffman.

They say the resident of the town of Lehighton, 77 miles north of Philadelphia, also sprayed anti-Semitic graffiti at a park; plastered an Ocean City, Maryland, Jewish center’s display case with white supremacist and anti-Semitic stickers; and posted photos of the vandalism.

Kauffman was charged last week with interstate transmission of threats. Federal prosecutors announced the charge Thursday.

What are the other threats? More photoshops? How can you charge someone with threats for that? Especially when it wasn’t against specific people?

I can legally say in America “I’m going to kill all the Jews.” That is protected under Brandenburg v. Ohio.

So what the fuck is this? Are they trying to get this in front of the Supreme Court, to overturn Brandenburg v. Ohio?

Or are the unnamed threats different than the photoshopped image, some kind of real world threats of imminent violence?

If he did the vandalism, then by all means, charge him for that. Vandalism is illegal, and people should be charged with a crime if they get caught committing vandalism.

But this other shit just sounds insane.

I guess we’ll have to wait and see. There isn’t much information here.

But they’ve already arrested a man and charged him with terrorism for writing an angry email he never sent. So we are already way beyond any concept of the American legal system. We have already moved into a type of authoritarian thought crime situation.

So honestly, I’m not surprised if they are just charging him for photoshop.
