Peter Thiel Confirms the Age of Apple is Over

I’ve been saying this for a while now.

Glad to have a top guy confirm it.

RT:

Arguably the most desired smartphone in the world, Apple’s iPhone, is losing popularity, says PayPal co-founder and first Facebook investor Peter Thiel.

When asked if “the age of Apple is over” by The New York Times, Thiel answered: “Confirm. We know what a smartphone looks like and does. It’s not the fault of Tim Cook, but it’s not an area where there will be any more innovation.”

In October, Apple reported its first annual revenue decline in 15 years, as for the first time iPhone sales slumped. In the three months ending September 24, the Cupertino, California company said its revenue dropped about nine percent year on year.

Apple’s annual sales fell to $216 billion in the 2016 fiscal year ending September 30, down from a record $234 billion the year before.

The company’s sales in China, once a catalyst for growth, declined 30 percent year on year as the tech company faces competition from local producers like Xiaomi and Huawei that make more affordable smartphones with a similar set of functions.

Some analysts say the the world may have reached “peak Apple,” as nearly everyone who wants and can afford an iPhone and other products already has one.

The jump from 5 to 6 was the last relevant jump.

I have an iPhone 6, and can’t imagine ever needing a cellphone to do anything more than this phone does. Like, I can’t even think of anything that it could potentially do.

I looked at the 7 and was like wow this is the exact same phone again, why would want this.

And I’m a guy who has been pretty interested in smartphones for a long time. I don’t even bother to read about them anymore.

So basically, the only thing that can happen now is a race for Android to somehow catchup with Apple, which will happen as far as the average user is concerned. Apple could also try to make the same phone cheaper, I guess, but everyone who wants one already has one. Maybe some people who still have a 5 will want a 6, but that’s all.

It’s too bad, as Apple was like the last great American company. There are other things they would be doing, if Jobs was still alive – he would be all over the IoT, and probably dominate that scene totally, creating “smart homes.” But he is totally and completely dead. So now the company is likely to go into a death spiral, with the gooks taking over the IoT (Samsung and LG are already doing it).

If Apple was going to be in on that, they already would be. Instead they’re just like “oh woe, woe, guess we’ll just close down a bunch of factories, woe woe.”

It’s too bad.

Too bad.

They should have put a smart person in charge, instead of a faggot diversity hire.
