Two men were charged and bail was set Friday for the alleged shooter of a Philadelphia police officer in Kensington, District Attorney Larry Krasner announced at an afternoon press conference.
Krasner set bail at $3.3 million for Jerome Hill, 29. Hill allegedly shot officer Paul Sulock in the upper thigh on Wednesday in the 3100 block of Reach Street as Sulock, 31, apprehended Hill despite his wound. Charges against Hill included multiple counts of attempted murder, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, and three counts of aggravated assault.
“Video and testimonial evidence clearly shows Hill fired upon police, striking officer Sulock in the leg,” Krasner said.
Krasner is seeking bail for $1 million for James Gauthney, 18, who remains in custody. Gauthney was charged with hindering apprehension and obstruction of justice. He remains in custody “to further determine the extent of his involvement.”
Sulock and his partner arrived at the scene around 11 a.m. When they arrived, Krasner said, they saw Hill brandishing a handgun that he used to strike another man — not Gauthney.
