US President Donald Trump has declared the nation’s painkiller-addiction crisis a public health emergency.
Mr Trump announced a plan to target the abuse of opioids, which kill more than 140 Americans each day, at the White House.
The president has previously promised to declare a national emergency, which would have triggered federal funding to help states combat the drug epidemic.
The move instead redirects grant money to be used in dealing with the crisis.
Mr Trump said on Thursday: “More people are dying from drug overdoses today than from gun homicides and motor vehicles combined.
“These overdoses are driven by a massive increase in addiction to prescription painkillers, heroin and other opioids.”
He added: “The United States is by far the largest consumer of these drugs using more opioid pills per person than any other country by far in the world.”
Mr Trump is signing a presidential memorandum directing his acting health secretary to declare a nationwide public health emergency and ordering all federal agencies to take measures to reduce the number of opioid deaths, according to senior White House officials.
The order will also ease some regulations to allow states more latitude in how they use federal funds to tackle the problem.
The opioid crisis is one of the biggest – if not the single biggest – problem affecting white people in America today.
This is completely and totally out of control. People are dropping dead and having their lives completely destroyed by this drug. And we now know that the government under Obama colluded with Jewish pain pill companies to flood white neighborhoods and towns with pills, which eventually lead to heroin addiction.
The way that works, for those of you who don’t know, is that you start taking the pills because you’re bored or depressed or what have you, then you develop an addiction, then a tolerance, and the pills get real expensive, so you start with the heroin because it’s cheaper. You just start by smoking it, then you realize it is better to shoot it, and all the people you buy it from and do it with are already shooting it – and then you’re a junkie, laying around on some filthy carpet shooting heroin like a ghetto nigger from the 1920s.
It is happening all over the place to young white men, a huge portion of which come from middle class and upper-middle class backgrounds.
We have to stop this.
And the only way to stop it right now is to cut of the supply.
We can make our young guys into something better and stronger, but right now, we need full-Duterteism.
Trump needs to authorize the execution of dealers, and cold-turkey six month prison sentences for addicts. No more of this “compassion for addicts” bullshit – we need some tough love here. Put them in a damn cell and let them sweat it out.
In fact, no – let me change that.
That is also the compassionate option. “Leniency for addicts” is just a weak position, which leads to continued use of the drug. Whether that is purposeful – and some of it is – or out of real weakness doesn’t matter.
Tough love, compassion, logic and reason – it’s all the same answer.
You have to shut it down.
