I think this year may see a brilliant alliance between these two great men.
I hope they kill a lot of bad guys together.
Like in Double Dragon, they can clean up the streets in different areas.
Exciting new adventures on the rise.
Right-wing nationalist Jair Bolsonaro was sworn in as Brazil’s president on Tuesday, and immediately called on Congress to combat endemic corruption and promised to “work tirelessly so that Brazil reaches its destiny.”
Addressing a joint session of Congress minutes after taking the oath of office, Bolsonaro, a former Army captain and admirer of the country’s 1964-1985 military dictatorship, vowed to adhere to democratic norms.
He said his government would be guided by the promises he made to Brazilian voters fed up with graft, high levels of violent crime and a still-sputtering economy.
“I will work tirelessly so that Brazil reaches its destiny,” Bolsonaro said after being sworn in. “My vow is to strengthen Brazil’s democracy.”
U.S. President Donald Trump lauded Bolsonaro’s speech in a tweet, saying “the U.S.A. is with you!”
The new Brazilian president promptly replied on Twitter, thanking Trump for his encouragement and saying, “Together, under God’s protection, we shall bring prosperity and progress to our people!”
Meanwhile, The Huffington Jewish Post is saying he’s destroying “democracy.”
“Democracy” you see is one of these unfortunate buzzwords that has no definite meaning.
Most people have some vague conception that it means “people getting a right to vote for policies and so on.”
That’s the actual definition of the word, in fact.
But then when someone like Trump, Putin, Duterte or Bolsonaro is elected by mass popular vote, they say that the people themselves are “voting against democracy.”
They start vaguely changing the definition, saying “democracy” akshually means “human rights” or some such thing.
Of course, we all understand that “democracy” simply means “whatever the Jews want.” It has nothing to do with any specific form of electoral process or type of government. And in fact, it doesn’t really have anything specifically to do with “human rights.” The same media that says democratically-elected “strongmen” are “against democracy” chants that “Israel is the only Democracy in the Middle East.” And Israel has by a very long shot the worst “human rights record” of any developed country in the world (and worse than most shitholes, in fact). However, Israel does vote for its government. So it’s a shifting, slimy term, “democracy.”
I mostly think it shouldn’t be used at all. It is better to talk about “freedom,” because you can at least elaborate on what you mean by that. When you say you’re going to “increase democracy,” what can that mean, exactly, other than combatting corruption and doing more to ensure fair elections, something which no one really even cares about anyway?
That said, Bolsonaro is just trolling the media, because they’ve did this whole bit where he’s the democratically-elected leader but is also against democracy.
In general, beware of this word though. Virtually anyone who uses it has the intent to dazzle and abuse you.
