Putin Accurately States That It is Unclear What Maria Butina was Imprisoned For

Maria Butina, the alleged “Russian agent” who was actually just a Russian woman living in the US who was into guns, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for not registering as a foreign agent while being in a gun club.

She was not actually an agent of the Russian government. And the fact that she was a Russian national on a visa in America was proof that she was a Russian. When you get a visa to a foreign country, you are registering as a foreigner. That’s what a visa is.

Basically, this is like if I went to Russia and joined a boxing club and told the Russians there “you know, I’m an American, and I really like Russia and think your MMA culture is really neat, I wish that America and Russia were better friends because we really have a lot in common” and then was arrested, thrown in solitary confinement and charged with being a foreign agent for failing to report that I was an American in a boxing club.

Of course, that wouldn’t happen in Russia, because Russia is a serious, adult country that doesn’t behave like a retarded boy with super strength, just rampaging through the place.

This entire Maria Butina spectacle is just more clown circus material.

It is ultra clown circus because the judge that sentenced her, Tanya Chutkan, isn’t even a fucking American. Not even an African American.

This bitch was born in Jamaica.

Is she registered as a foreign agent? If not, then why? Because she has a piece of paper saying “I iz a Mercin”?

Who do you personally feel more comfortable with?

Maria Butina or Tanya Chutkan?

Who looks more American?

Choose wisely.

NBC News:

An 18-month sentence for Maria Butina, a Russian operative who used her NRA activism to illegally infiltrate conservative political circles, was an effort to “save face” for the U.S., Russian President Vladimir Putin said Saturday.

Speaking with reporters after an international forum in Beijing, Putin said there was nothing to charge Butina with.

“It’s not clear what she was sentenced for,” the Russian president said. “What crime did she commit?

Butina was sentenced to 18 months in prison by a federal judge Friday.

The 30-year-old American University graduate student pleaded guilty in December to one count of conspiracy to violate the law governing foreign agents operating in the U.S. She was arrested in July.

U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan gave Butina credit for nine months of time served. The judge ordered her deported as soon as her time is up.

On Saturday, Putin said he agreed with his Foreign Ministry’s assessment that Butina’s sentence is “lawlessness.”

“I think it’s a case of ‘saving face’,” the Russian president said, adding: “In order to not make it look completely ridiculous, they gave her 18 months to show that she’s guilty of something.”

On Friday, Butina addressed the court and, her voice at times quivering, insisted she wasn’t working as a spy, and that she only wanted to mend Russia-U.S. relations.

“I came here to better my life to get a degree. I wished to mend relations while building my resume,” she said. “It was for these actions and my own ignorance that I’m here.”

However, she admitted to harming relations between the two superpowers.

She was admitting to whatever because she’s been in fucking prison for 9 months on charges that have no meaning and she was told they might let her out, finally.

“It has never been my intention to harm American people, but I did so by not notifying your government. It has harmed my attempts to improve relations,” she said. “I have three degrees, but now I’m a convicted felon with no money, no job and no freedom.”

“Instead of building peace, I created discord,” she said.

But Chutkan didn’t buy Butina’s tearful claims of innocent ignorance of the law, saying the Russian operative knew exactly what she was doing.

“She was doing this under the direction of a Russian official … at a time that Russia was looking to interfere with the U.S. political process,” the judge said. “This was no simple misunderstanding by an overeager foreign student.”

If she is being charged by America with being a foreign agent, she deserved to appear before a judge who is fucking American.

This is just… it’s just too much.

I wish Putin would have called out the judge as not being American, because that really does just highlight the absolute absurdity of this.

I almost think they put her in front of a foreign judge just to rub in how insane this is.

The only reason that Maria was ever even arrested was to escalate tensions with Russia in the midst of the Trump hoax. The appropriate thing to do after the release of the Mueller report would be to say “oh sorry lol, you can leave prison now.” Instead they say she has to stay 9 more months.

It’s incredible Russia doesn’t do tit for tat.

China does tit for tat.

China will start executing your people if you kidnap theirs.

Russia is crawling with American and Israeli spies. If they decided to start grabbing people, they could have actual real cases to throw thousands of people in prison on real charges.

But they are obsessed with seeming reasonable, as if at some point someone is going to realize how reasonable they are.

I don’t know. Maybe it is a show for countries who might actually switch sides. Eastern and Southern European countries. But I think those countries would switch sides specifically because they like authoritarianism, not because Putin showed he was ultra-reasonable.
