Back in the early years of Putin’s regime, the second Chechen War was raging.
In particular, there was a battle over an important height held by Russian paratroopers. Arab Mujahadeen and other mercenaries tried to storm the height and the Russians fought to the bitter end.
President Putin decided to fly in and honor these heroes. But his aircraft started taking fire and he almost didn’t make it.
Pretty intense stuff.
Actually, Putin almost died another time when he was visiting Azerbaijan. But that’s a story for another time. Suffice it to say, Muslims have been trying to kill this man for a long time.
He’s managed to stay alive for much longer than anyone could have reasonably expected.
