Herbert Swinton.
Another black tried to rape someone in a shocking twist of events.
Herbert Swinton is being held without bond and on charges of attempted rape, burglary, false imprisonment and battery. Miami Beach police say surveillance cameras from South Beach businesses captured Swinton, 31, stalking the woman as he rode on a red scooter rented by his girlfriend.
Police say video showed Swinton circling the block of Washington Avenue between 12th Street and 13th streets. When the woman entered the Starbucks at 12th and Washington Avenue, Swinton parked the scooter, then paced in front of Starbucks’ massive windows. Cops say he waited on the corner across 12th Street until the woman left Starbucks and walked west. No interaction is spotted, they said.
The woman said when she got home around 7 a.m., she forgot to lock the door. As she took off her clothes for bed, Swinton walked into her apartment and leaned against the living room couch. He not only didn’t honor her request to leave, he hurled her to the floor, ripped her panties and tried to sexually attack through her kicks and screams. That drew her roommate into the living room.
In seeing the roommate, she said, Swinton bolted out the door.
