Second Black Thief Charged with Murder of White Man in Relation to Narcotics

A second person has been charged in a homicide investigation in Des Moines.

Keyon Harrison, 17, of Des Moines, was charged Friday with first-degree murder and first-degree robbery.

Harrison was arrested in November for possession of marijuana. He was released and arrested again for unrelated charges, so he already in custody when officials filed the charges Friday.

Harrison made his first court appearance Saturday morning. A preliminary hearing is set for May 12 at 8 a.m. at the Polk County Courthouse.

Police were called about a shooting victim in a driveway at 2605 Hickman Lane on November 7.

The victim was identified as Aaron Michael McHenry, 24, of Rockford, Illinois.

On Nov. 8, 17-year-old Keith Meco Collins, of Des Moines, was charged with first-degree murder in the case.

Police said the investigation suggests the murder was committed in relation to narcotics.

The case remains under investigation.
