An East Windsor man who belongs to a white supremacist group was sentenced in federal court today to 33 months in prison for assaulting two Middle Eastern men in Sayreville, U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman said today.
Michal Gunar, 29, a member of the Aryan Terror Brigade, attended a New Year’s Eve “meet and greet” with other white supremacists in East Brunswick on Dec. 31, 2011, Fishman’s office said in a press release.
Along with Kyle Powell, 24, of West Collingswood and Christopher Ising, 31, of Waretown, he traveled to Sayreville with the intention of assaulting random non-white people, the release said.
They came upon two Middle Eastern men and began attacking them and shouting anti-Arab slurs, the office said. In April, Gunar admitted he had pulled one of the men out of a parked car and punched him in the head.
