A MAN has been jailed for 22 years for murdering an Aberdeen man.

And another man is due to appear in connection with the death of Bill Sharman later this month.

Bill, of Aberdeen, was shot dead in South Africa in May last year.

The 64-year-old – who was once on the books of Aberdeen FC – was shot in the head at point blank range by a mugger who wanted his briefcase.

Now Siphamandlangezwi Ngubane has been convicted of Bill’s murder and jailed for 22 years.

Ngubane was also sentenced to 14 years for robbery, and seven years for unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition after he pleaded guilty to all charges.

The judge ruled that Ngubane’s sentences would be served concurrently.

Another man, Mpungose Bhekumndeni, is due to appear at Durban High Court on April 29 in connection with the incident.
