Soy Baby Formula Causes Menstrual Problems for Women Later in Life

Soy really is a hormonal disruptor.

That’s not a myth.

People keep saying that “soyboy” isn’t a true meme because soy doesn’t cause hormonal problems – what then is this?

Reuters:

Feeding infant girls baby formula containing soy may set them up for more painful menstrual periods as young women, a new study suggests.

The research, which included information on more than 1,500 African American women, reinforces findings in earlier studies that included mostly Caucasian women.

“We observed that soy formula feeding during infancy was associated with several indicators of severe menstrual pain in reproductive age women,” said Kristen Upson, a postdoctoral fellow in the epidemiology branch at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.

“This included a 40 percent increased risk of ever using hormonal contraception for menstrual pain and a 50 percent increased risk of moderate to severe menstrual discomfort with most periods during adulthood,” Upson noted.

Overall, researchers found that women who had ever been fed soy formula as babies were, at ages 18-22 years, 50 percent more likely than those not fed soy to experience moderate or severe cramping during most periods when they were not using hormonal contraception.

Women fed soy as babies were also 40 percent more likely to have used hormonal contraception at some point to alleviate menstrual pain, the study team reports in Human Reproduction.

The menstrual cycle is a function of the endocrine system. So what we are seeing here is that soy disrupts the endocrine system.

This is a very delicate system, so increasing estrogen during early childhood can lead to an off-kilter system that never manages to get back on track and leads to hormonal problems throughout life.

Of course, the effects of soy are more pronounced when it is used as a child. But I do think adults should avoid it completely as well. Other than maybe a little bit of fermented soy sauce with sushi now and again, it just really is not a safe food product.

The hormonal system is key to health. And most people are off-balance. Being fat actually causes your body to produce estrogen, and producing estrogen causes you to gain weight. If you were fat as a child, you have an off-kilter hormonal system which is impossible to ever get right.

I have worked very hard to keep my own hormonal system in balance. Thankfully, I had a mother who was an extreme health obsessive, who was also very aware of endocrine issues, so I didn’t have much exposure to plastic as a child. Plastic is another big disruptor of the endocrine system – bigger than soy. In fact the biggest of all, short of actually injecting steroids or taking birth control pills.

Another huge one is beer.

People don’t like hearing it, but it’s just a fact, and I’m not going to lie to you to make you feel better. If you want to drink, drink vodka, gin or tequila. Although any form of liquor is better than beer. Red wine is also good for you.

I will tell you: I cannot hardly even gain weight when I want to.

I am not going to post any more gratuitous gym selfies right now, but I am extremely lean. Over the last couple of months, I’ve been trying to bulk up, because I haven’t been doing boxing lately (it’s a reason to be lean) and I don’t really have many hobbies or a life outside of my work here.

Basically, my hormonal system is in such good shape, that I cannot even gain fat on my body at all. I have spent almost two months eating an entire tub of ice cream almost every day, simply because I think this is the least unhealthy way to max out calories after you’ve already gotten all your nutrients (it isn’t healthy and I definitely don’t recommend consuming dairy other than raw milk for any extended period), and I’ve only gained 3 pounds. And it’s hard to tell without using proper tools, but based on pinching my belly, I don’t think those extra pounds have contributed very much to my body fat percentage.

Basically, to gain serious weight I have to go full-on with total shit food, much worse than ice cream. Pizza and McDonald’s and boxes of cookies. I’ve gone this route before, but it really makes you feel like shit, and that effect is worse as you get older.

So everyone’s main health goal needs to be getting their endocrine system in line. From there, everything is possible – and it isn’t even that difficult, if you have the will to spend the time in the gym and regulate your diet (note that I am still getting all of my nutrients from my meats and vegetables, I have just added 1500 calories of bullshit on top of it).

The other thing that is very important is to regulate your gut flora. But this is actually related to the endocrine system in ways which… I won’t go into here.

This is all stuff I am seriously planning to put in my men’s health and lifestyle self-help book, which will be my first book (instead of anything political) because I think it is the most important thing for our revolution that we be healthy and well-adjusted men.

You’ll notice that most of the weirdos involved in the far-right movement have been either obese or abusing steroids. This isn’t a coincidence.
