David Lynn Bryant.
A black man shoots a white man dead, then engages in a standoff with the police?
Yeah, it’s been known to happen.
The Greene County Prosecutors Office has charged the suspect for two shootings that occurred early Tuesday morning.
David Lynn Bryant, 52, of Springfield, has been charged with murder in the second degree and armed criminal action.
Prosecutors say Bryant shot and killed a man, then stole his car, and then shot a different man before a standoff.
Bryant is charged with fatally shooting Ryan Boulanger, 29, near Cherry Street and Dysart early Tuesday morning, while Boulanger’s girlfriend was driving the car they were in.
Police say Bryant then went to the Fairvue Studios Apartment on Norton Road and shot a man in the chest.
Bryant was arrested after a standoff with police near the intersection of Tampa and Chestnut Expressway.
One day after Bryant was arrested and charged, Springfield Police sent a news release, stating that during that standoff, Bryant exited the front of the home and fired a handgun at officers. One Springfield police officer returned fire.
