I wrote last week about how the media is going nuts making Hong Kong the number one story, telling Americans they should have to care about this issue.
They just keep going with it.
Fifty-three countries at the U.N. Human Rights Council, led by Cuba, came out in support of China’s national security law this week — a law that has formed the basis of the communist regime’s latest crackdown on the people of Hong Kong.
Dueling statements were read out in the Council Tuesday in support and against the national security law. According to Axios, Cuba read out a statement in favor of the law backed by 52 other countries, while the U.K. read out a statement against it, representing itself and 26 other countries.
Chinese state media Xinhua reported that the Cuban statement said the law was beneficial for Hong Kong’s prosperity and stability, and guarantees that Hong Kong residents can exercise their freedom in a “safe environment.”
The law criminalizes anti-government movements, and is targeted at pro-democracy protesters in Hong Kong who have pushed back against Beijing’s incursions on freedoms in the territory — which is supposed to be ruled on the principle of “one country, two systems.”
The law punishes crimes of secession, subversion, terrorism and collusion with foreign forces with up to life in prison.
It also establishes a national security committee in Hong Kong under Beijing’s control and allows for those accused of offenses to be sent to the mainland for trial. Those who are not permanent residents of Hong Kong may be charged under the national security law as well, according to Chinese state media.
I don’t really know what else there is to say about this (again, read the thing I already wrote about why the media is prioritizing this topic, it’s important).
Hong Kong people were rioting for over a year, just destroying everything, while receiving instruction from the US State Department. The leaders of the riots were literally going to the US Embassy to get instructions, and would fly to the US and meet with politicians.
Imagine if a group of neo-Nazis were engaged in a year-long riot in an American city, and they were carrying Chinese flags and singing Chinese songs while rioting, and it was public information that they were receiving aid and instruction from the Chinese government, and they were regularly flying to China to meet with members of the Chinese government.
The situation in Hong Kong was ridiculous, and all the “draconian” law does is restrict rights to protest. You’re also not allowed to collude with foreign powers to overthrow the government under the new law.
But as I said before: who cares?
What does this have to do with me or my life? Why am I obligated to care about the civil rights of people in China? Where did this obligation come from?
Furthermore, they’re talking about SPEECH. That’s what the law is about. Can you even imagine the US and UK governments whining about how some other group of people with a completely different culture should have a right to the kind of traditional European freedom of speech that has been stripped of us in our own countries?
What’s next? Will they demand that China roll back women’s rights legislation that has led to an increase in the divorce rate?
(That’s a real article by the way, with that headline and that subheadline, written by a revolutionary Hong Kong feminist. The entire article is that nuts. Asians get really confused trying to do liberalism. They don’t understand that you’re not supposed to say exactly what you mean. See the gook woman who said she was going to start killing whites. Also, in China’s defense, the government is reviewing these laws. They didn’t enact them because of Western pressure, but rather because they wanted to be nice to Chinese women. Asians think feminism is just about making women feel more comfortable, to increase joyfulness in happy families. See Japanese period badges.)
Is the US government going to demand that China reinstitute the death penalty for homosexuals?
It is hard to imagine something more infuriating than having been through what I’ve been through in terms of basically being banned from the internet completely, having watched what happened with Charlottesville being attacked by the police to create a riot at a political demonstration, having dealt with all of this censorship everywhere for three solid years, and then having the government that refused to protect our Constitutional rights go around making threats to a foreign country, demanding they give their own people rights that the very same politicians deny us.
Of course, the US government obviously doesn’t care about freedom of speech. The media doesn’t have strong ethics. This is all just pushing an agenda.
I wouldn’t think it was any of America’s business if the government was really cracking down. But they’re not. They’re just banning protests because protests are just a way to organize the violent riots that the US government is paying Hong Kongese people to do.
And, yes: the millions of refugees they’re talking about bringing to our countries are “refugees from free speech restrictions.” So, that I’m sure makes sense somehow.
The fact that they’re promoting this “Chinese freedom of speech should be really important to you” agenda as America is in the middle of a brutal revolution that is tearing apart the fabric of society takes it into “beyond the pale” territory.
I sure do hope Trump isn’t thinking about starting a war with China to win the election.
However, the crazy thing is, that might actually be a fair trade. We are absolutely doomed if Trump loses. If we go to war with China, we can call it off at some point.
That said, this number of countries siding with China has to have rattled the people pushing for this war. Countries are trying to back away from the United States, as it is clear it is completely out of control, both in terms of the internal collapse of society and in terms of the behavior on the world stage.
A showdown with China is going to be a rough ride. But I will tell you this: the fact that China is such a focus right now does imply that an agenda against them is somehow involved in this overarching global transformation agenda that began with coronavirus.
