The actual article is behind a Swedish paywall, but these guys have a solid write-up. It’ll have to do, cuz I’m not feeding the beast.
For the first time ever, international observers from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) will be sent to Sweden to monitor the election result as Europe becomes increasingly worried about what will happen on 9 September now that the rightwing anti-immigrant Eurosceptics of the Sweden Democrats are leading most of the polls.
The OSCE spokesperson, Mr Thomas Rymer told Sveriges Radio: “This is the first time we have had any form of mission or observation activity in Sweden for an election.”.
Mr Patrik Öhberg, an expert on Swedish politics from the University of Gothenburg explained: “When we talk about Sweden and other Scandinavian countries you associate them with social democracy.”
“But it seems like this era is going to end now. We have become more of a country like everyone else. It’s a bastion of social democracy now maybe going to rubble. Something big is going on here.”
“People vote for Sweden Democrats for one reason and one reason only: immigration.”
Another political analyst, Mr Sverker Gustavsson from Uppsala University agreed with him: “it is to do with discontent and a raising of expectations that politics does not deliver what people think it should deliver.”
All I read was Russians.
The elections are going to be hacked.
The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe will have to keep a close eye on the elections… and if the populists win, well that’s all the proof of Russian interference they need.
I think we’re going to see a lot more of this – vote suppression that is.
They’re going to start questioning the validity of votes as well – banning “hate votes” or “russian-influenced votes” I bet.
Seriously.
Lets see how far they go with this.
