A third man was arrested and charged with first degree murder in the death of a Brighton man in August. Police have other persons of interest and are continuing the investigation into the fatal home invasion.
Jamal D. Scott, of Cahokia, is charged with three counts of murder, one count of home invasion, and one count of armed robbery. St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrested Scott on Friday and he was extradited to Madison County the same day, Master Sgt. Tammy Grimes said.
On Tuesday afternoon, Scott was at Madison County Jail being held on $2.5 million bail.
Madison County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Capt. Mike Dixon said “several” people were in the Cottage Hills home on Aug. 16 when men came in and shot the victim. Damian M. Huber, 24, of Brighton, was visiting the Oak Street home in Cottage Hills when he was shot. Huber later died at a hospital.
