Let me start by saying this: I don’t want to shit on Christianity or the Catholics. I’m not a very devout practitioner of any denomination, so I don’t really have an ax to grind here.
I’m just going to point out some stuff that seems very clear to me about the absolute state of priests in the UK…also known as Pedo Island.
Actually though, the UK pedo elite thing is interesting too. It’s got a lot to do with boarding schools, but that’s a topic for another post.
So first things first, priests are disproportionately gay.
You have to have some serious moral fortitude and serious belief in God, the faith, the sublime or whatever to abstain from sex for decades of your life, in general.
Do you really think anyone believes in God like that anymore in the clergy?
No, I don’t think so. I think a lot of them are gay, but don’t want to be gay, so they try to abstain from sex in general by giving their lives to God.
Idk how prevalent this was historically, because I believe that back in the old days, priests would just mess around with nuns and visit brothels from time to time and the Church was like, “yo, you shouldn’t do that, but we’re not going to bust your balls over it, say ‘hail Mary’ fifty times and don’t do it again.” Because people back then were more real and down to earth and knew how to have a good time.
Also, you had political exiles and people that were infirm and academics in monasteries and abbeys and churches because they had nowhere else to go. So that would have pushed the percentage of straight people up.
So yeah, Medieval>Modern yet again.
Nowadays though, you have guys who know they are gay and they clearly join up because they want access to kids. This is clearly a big problem in the Church.
BBC:
A Catholic archbishop in Australia has been given a maximum sentence of 12 months in detention for concealing child sexual abuse in the 1970s.
Philip Wilson, now archbishop of Adelaide, is the most senior Catholic globally to be convicted of the crime.
He was found guilty by a court last month of covering up abuse by a paedophile priest in New South Wales.
On Tuesday, the court ordered Wilson to be assessed for “home detention” – meaning he will probably avoid jail.
Magistrate Robert Stone said the senior clergyman had shown “no remorse or contrition”. He will be eligible for parole after six months.
Wilson has not resigned as archbishop, despite relinquishing his duties in the wake of his conviction.
In May, a court found he had failed to report his colleague James Patrick Fletcher’s abuse of altar boys to police.
I’m not sure what that is about.
Maybe he’s all like, “the Church is full of gays, what did you expect? This isn’t my fault, take it up with the Pope, who’s a big fat faggot himself.”
Idk.
Strange thing to not show remorse and contrition – this is the Catholic Church we’re talking about here. These people apologize three times before they even wake up, and now he’s mum on the subject.
Maybe he really is innocent and didn’t know what was going on.
