Over 100 people have been arrested after protesters set off flares and clashed with police near Downing Street in a protest over the Southport Stabbings.
A demonstration named ‘Enough is Enough’ was held in central London this evening, with attendees told that they can only protest in Whitehall between 7pm and 8.30pm. But protest split and many defied the restrictions put in place by police, with one group spotted moving towards Downing Street and the other towards Parliament Square.
It comes after riots by suspected far-right elements in Southport on Tuesday night saw 53 officers and three police dogs injured. The angry scenes followed misinformation spread online about the 17-year-old suspect arrested in Monday’s stabbing attack at a dance class in the seaside town, which left three children dead.
A statement from the Met Police read: “Over 100 people have been arrested for offences including violent disorder, assault on an emergency worker, and breach of protest conditions. Some officers suffered minor injuries.”
Footage from the scene London showed flares lit in the street as members of the crowd shouted “save our kids” loudly and waved national flags. Others chanted the name of former English Defence League leader, Tommy Robinson. One image from the scene showed police tackling a man to the ground before leading him away.
Some protesters have also been seen facing off with a line of police officers, beer cans and glass bottles have been launched at police in riot gear. One video shared online shows a glass bottle narrowly missing a photographer. Other protesters are said to have attempted to kick down a fence and were confronted by riot police.
People also rioted at Hartlepool.
It’s a really rough start for Mr. Starmer to have this be his first major domestic crisis.
I do fear that this is somehow going to be judo moved into “why we need to support war with Iran.”
They have not yet said the name or ethnicity of the immigrant who stabbed up the kids.
They could come out and say he’s Iranian or whatever.
It’s very convenient that the Jews flood our countries with these foreigners and then come out and say “oh well, see, this is the reason you should be fighting wars in the Middle East.”
If we didn’t have immigrants in the UK, immigrants would not be stabbing up the kids.
