During a speech to the European Parliament, UKIP’s Tim Aker said allowing them to stay would lead to more people taking such dangerous measures to travel to the UK.
One man died and 34 others from Afghanistan had to be rescued last month, with some suffering from dehydration and hypothermia.
Mr Aker, who represents the East of England, says under international law they should have claimed asylum in the first safe country they came to.
