Is Northam really afraid of a revolution or is he simply trying to further agitate these people?

I don’t know. The whole situation kind of bores me, frankly.

CNN:

Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam on Wednesday said firearms and other weapons will be banned on state Capitol grounds in Richmond ahead of a gun rights rally on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

A temporary state of emergency is among several security precautions Northam said officials will take effect after law enforcement learned of “threats of violence” surrounding the rally that out-of-state militia groups and hate groups are expected to attend Monday.

“State intelligence analysts have identified threats and violent rhetoric similar to what has been seen before other major events such as Charlottesville,” said Northam, referring to the deadly white supremacist rally in that Virginia city.

The threats, which are considered credible by law enforcement, come from mainstream channels and alternative dark web channels used by violent groups and white nationalists from outside of Virginia, the governor said. He added “the conversations are fueled by misinformation and conspiracy theories.”

Northam said the state of emergency will be in place from Friday evening to Tuesday evening. The ban includes open and concealed firearms and other weapons like sticks, bats and chains, according to the emergency declaration order.

“Please know that we have been preparing extensively to protect public safety at Monday’s rally, but no one wants another incident like the one we saw in Charlottesville in 2017,” Northam said. “We will not allow that mayhem and violence to happen here.”

I keep seeing people talking about how important this Virginia guns situation is. But it really just doesn’t seem very important to me.

I don’t think that:

  1. Anyone is going to rise up and overthrow the government, or
  2. The government is going to do door-to-door gun confiscations

At least not any time soon.

So it feels like this entire thing is just a lot of wasted energy which could be spent on things that are actually happening, such as the flooding of our country with immigrants.

Or the tens of thousands of people dying from opioids.

Or the whole child tranny thing.

Conservatives will reflexively go to the issues of guns and abortion when they are not comfortable confronting other issues.

Let me make myself clear: I am not saying that guns and abortion are not important issues, it’s simply that nothing is really going on with those issues.

At least nothing that can be solved with a protest.

It’s already been decided by the Supreme Court that:

  1. State and local governments have the ability to ban guns, while the federal government cannot
  2. No state or local government has the ability to outlaw abortion, and the federal government will punish you if you try

Short of an actual uprising, there is not anything that can be done about either of these things, other than voting for a Republican president and hoping he appoints good SCOTUS judges.

Conversely,

  1. Immigration
  2. Drugs
  3. Trannies

Are all things that can be dealt with by Congress or even by state and local governments.
