Richard Spencer should get like, a “Menace 2 Society” tattoo.
Wew.
I have not seen a state of emergency declared in advance of an event like this ever.
Gov. Rick Scott (R) has declared a state of emergency in a Florida county ahead of a planned speech by white nationalist leader Richard Spencer.
Spencer is scheduled to speak at the University of Florida campus in Gainesville on Thursday.
Scott declared the state of emergency in Alachua County, noting that Spencer’s speeches in other states have in the past “sparked protests and counter-protests resulting in episodes of violence, civil unrest and multiple arrests,” according to the Tampa Bay Times.
“I find that the threat of a potential emergency is imminent,” Scott said in a seven-page executive order.
Scott said in a statement that everyone has a right to voice their opinions.
But, he said, “we have zero tolerance for violence and public safety is always our number one priority.”
“I have been in constant contact with Sheriff [Sadie] Darnell who has requested this Executive Order to ensure that county and local law enforcement have every needed resource,” Scott said in the statement.
“This executive order is an additional step to ensure that the University of Florida and the entire community is prepared so everyone can stay safe,” he said.
Okay so basically: this means the cops are going to be allowed to do whatever they want.
I don’t think that we want to be congregated in the areas that the cops have set up on campus for us. Officially, they are announcing that there are going to be two separate areas for left and right, and you’d think they genuinely wouldn’t want a riot on campus, but you know – who knows? At this point, we have to never trust anything that cops or the government say.
The fact that this governor is a Republican might sound like it means something, but it doesn’t.
Of course, this could be completely innocent and honest – no one wants another Charlottesville, they could have intelligence on Antifa “protest” plans, and just know that they need to be in a situation where the cops can do whatever they want. In fact, them declaring it so early might indicate that this is the case. If it’s a trap, they’re giving us fair warning.
Anyway, I am going to get some more details on this before I give instructions on how I think our guys there should proceed. But whatever the case, it needs to be WITH CAUTION.
If you’re planning on going, continue planning on going. If you can, get with a group.
You should always be with a group.
