A quadriplegic man now uses just his BRAIN WAVES to control a mouse cursor, thanks to @ElonMusk‘s @Neuralink brain implant.
That lets the man play Chess and Civilization VI online, making his life much more fun.
Innovation like that is a reason I call Musk a hero: pic.twitter.com/2lrYuWPPZk

Moving the cursor was actually possible several years ago, in some other research lab. I don’t remember the details, but you can find videos of it.
This is actually very simple, and doesn’t mean that humans are going to be able to use brain implants to download information into their brains.
Probably, at some point, you will be able to give people bionic limbs that are controlled by the brain implant, but the general cyberpunk fantasy of brain chips is never going to be real.
Elon Musk’s brain-chip startup Neuralink live-streamed its first patient implanted with a chip playing online chess.
Noland Arbaugh, the 29-year-old patient who was paralyzed below the shoulder after a diving accident, was playing chess on his laptop and moving the cursor using the Neuralink device.
He had received an implant from the company in January and could control a computer mouse using his thoughts, Musk said last month.
“The surgery was super easy,” Arbaugh said in the video streamed on Musk’s social media platform X, referring to the implant procedure. “I literally was released from the hospital a day later. I have no cognitive impairments.”
“I had basically given up playing that game,” Arbaugh said, referring to the game Civilization VI, “you all [Neuralink] gave me the ability to do that again and played for eight hours straight.“
Why not Civ V? Isn’t Civ VI kind of trash?
Anyway, I guess that’s cool that the guy can play games. But this isn’t really about that, is it?
The fact that Musk is now working on a military spy satellite program which is very villainous shows that he has no problems cooperating with the US government to engage in activities that harm the world.
It’s obvious that the government is also backing this program because they want to implant people with brain chips that will control their thoughts.
