A somber Pope Francis denounced the “massacre in Bucha” and kissed a battered Ukrainian flag from the decimated town near Ukraine’s capital on Wednesday during his weekly general audience at the Vatican.
“Recent news from the war in Ukraine, instead of bringing relief and hope, brought new atrocities, such as the massacre of Bucha,” he said toward the end of the audience.
“Cruelty that is increasingly horrendous, also against civilians, defenseless women and children. They are victims whose innocent blood cries out up to heaven and implores: ‘Stop this war! Let the weapons fall silent! Stop sowing death and destruction’,” said Francis.
The pope then held up the stained Ukrainian flag and invited a group of Ukrainian refugee children accompanied by two women to join him at the podium. He folded the flag and kissed it.
Shouldn’t the Pope be calling for an end to the war, rather than encouraging it?
I guess he expects people to not be aware that Putin’s deal still stands – surrender the Donbass and agree to neutrality and troops will be withdrawn?
But we all know this – anyone who reads knows that the Ukraine is fighting for NATO membership, and a right to indiscriminately slaughter Russian speakers in the Donbass. Everyone but the ultimate dumbest morons knows that the Pope is pro-war, pro-Azov, pro-torture.
That said, the media seems to be backing off of the Bucha thing a little bit. They can censor as many people as they want, but no one believes them anymore, even without hearing the other side.
I call this a hypocrisy. Biafra, Syria and other country where war and genocide have and has been going on, you the Pope never kiss there flags.
