The cop was intimidated by their high IQ.
A Slidell officer fired shots at a man in a stolen vehicle who tried to run the officer down Wednesday in a Wal-mart parking lot, police said.
Neither the officer nor the suspect was injured. The New Orleans man, identified as 32-year-old Ricky Cooper, was taken into custody after a short chase. A 19-year-old New Orleans woman identified as Aliyah Sharrieff, who fled the truck beforehand, was also arrested.
The incident happened around 5 p.m. Wednesday in the Wal-mart parking lot at 39142 Natchez Drive, spokesman Daniel Seuzeneau said in an email.
The officer was investigating reports of a stolen UHaul truck when the driver purposely tried to run the officer over, Fandal said.
The officer fired shots to protect himself at that point, Fndal said.
The man then drove off in the truck, but found himself blocked in behind the store. He then fled by foot, but was captured soon after, Fandal said.
