White Insurance Salesman Shot Dead in His Car by Black Suspect Who Fled on Foot

A 33-year-old insurance salesman was fatally shot inside his car early Friday in Oak Lawn, authorities say.

Joshua Tubbleville was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Authorities say the suspect who shot Tubbleville fled on foot after shooting him at the intersection of Lemmon and Oak Lawn Avenues about 5:45 a.m. Friday. A source tells News 8 that the two men had just left a restaurant about blocks away and that detectives found food inside the vehicle.

After being shot, Tubbleville lost control of his vehicle and hit a tree at a Shell gas station.

Cal Tubbleville, his only sibling, said he had moved from the Houston area to Dallas about three years ago and had just recently bought a house.

He said he spoke with his brother on Thursday, and he did not indicate he was having any issues with anyone.

“I’m still in shock,” ‎Cal Tubbleville said. “I don’t know anybody that ever disliked him.”

Joshua Tubblev‎ille worked as a national sales manager at Cypress Associates.

“He was very excited about his life in Dallas and the opportunities, and had a very promising future,” said friend Bob Thomas.

Thursday night, Tubbleville had gone out with Thomas, Thomas’ girlfriend, and a friend of hers to a wine bar and to a restaurant, Thomas said. He said his girlfriend had set Tubbleville up on the blind date.

“He texted us later and said thank you and he had a good time, and that was the last I heard from him,” Thomas said.

That text message arrived about 11:25 p.m.

The next thing he heard about Tubbleville was that he had been killed.

“Everybody’s just shocked, and they want to know why,” Thomas said.
