James Ryan Burch was murdered during an argument he was having with a Black who was known to him.

A Harwood man was shot and killed Sunday morning in Croom as the result of an argument with an acquaintance, according to Prince George’s County Police.

The suspect arrested in the case is Lemuel Alonzo Brown Jr., 25, of the 200 block of Polling House Road in Harwood.

James Ryan Burch, 31, of Solomons Island Road in Harwood was fatally shot just before 3 a.m. Sunday in the 7000 block of Crain Highway in Croom, police say. Patrol officers found Burch suffering from a gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead on the scene.

Burch and Brown were acquaintances, police say. The preliminary investigation suggests the two men argued and that escalated into the fatal shooting.

Homicide detectives quickly identified Brown as the suspect and obtained an arrest warrant charging him with first-degree murder. He turned himself into authorities in a neighboring jurisdiction and is in custody at the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.

A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for leads in the case.
