How many bodies is diversity and Black liberation worth?
Is it time for a return to Jim Crow? Or is it time for mass deportations?
Friday (12/4) was the first time Cassie Carter’s mom has talked publicly about Carter’s death and the criminal investigation.
King first reported her 20-year-old daughter missing in March of 2013. The investigation led authorities to Kevin Bolton, the last person seen with Carter.
Bolton, 39, was tracked to a Cherokee Indian Reservation in North Carolina where he was arrested after a traffic stop in Carter’s car. Police found Carter’s body in the trunk.
Authorities accused Bolton of kidnapping Carter in Gurdon, choking her twice and putting her body in the trunk.
Two years later he pleaded guilty to the crime of Kidnapping Resulting in Death.
“For me it’s been a very tough road because I miss her so bad and it’s been hard,” King remarked. “It’s been very hard for me.”
Carter left behind a son, Jaxson.
“He was nine months old when she was killed,” King said. “He won’t ever remember his mother; her touch; her feel.”
Thursday (12/4) in Federal Court in Hot Springs, Bolton was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
“It gave me some peace,” King said.
She thanked law enforcement and the Clark County Sheriff specifically for their work putting Kevin Bolton behind bars.
King says she can finally start to heal, knowing the man responsible for her daughter’s death sits behind bars for good.
