The Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office charged a 30-year-old man in connection with the murder of a Granite City woman, who was found shot to death in her car earlier this week.

According to court documents, Granite City police and paramedics were called to a vacant lot at the intersection of 25th and Madison streets around 5:30 p.m. on February 18 after witnesses noticed a woman slumped over in the front seat of a 2013 Dodge Avenger.

The woman, identified as 35-year-old Stacie Williams, had suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cory L. Osborne had been living with her up until a month before she was found with a bullet to the head.

Cory Osborne, whom detectives identified as a person of interest, turned himself in at the Jerseyville Police Department. Investigators learned Osborne and Williams had been dating and until last month shared a residence in Granite City.

Prosecutors said Osborne has a pending misdemeanor domestic violence case from January 2015 in which Williams was the victim.

Osborne will be transported to the Madison County Jail in Edwardsville, where he’ll remain on $2 million bond.
