There was apparently some confusion, with many in the Ukraine believing that Russia is just messing around.
Keev (formerly Kiev) leader Volodymyr Zelenskiy (formerly Vladimir Zelensky) has compared Russia’s stance to that of the rap group “G-Unit,” who “[doesn’t] play that, [doesn’t] play that, [they do not] play around.”
Zelininenskliliyyy warned people to be careful while fighting the war, because it is very serious business.
President Volodymyr Zelenskiy warned Ukrainians that Russia was throwing all its resources into a campaign to stop Kyiv’s troops from pressing their counter offensive and a top general reported new progress on the southern front.
But Ukrainian military analysts suggested that things were not easy for Ukrainian forces in their bid to advance southward.
Originally, it was believed that it would be extremely easy to defeat the Russian military. The entire Western media believed it would be like whistling on a sunny day.
Ukraine has launched a counter offensive to take back swathes of land in eastern and southern Ukraine captured by Russian forces in their invasion launched in February 2022.
It has focused on capturing villages in the southeast in a drive towards the Sea of Azov and areas near the eastern city of Bakhmut, taken by Russian forces in May after months of battles.

Russian accounts said its forces had repelled Ukrainian attacks in eastern Donetsk region, including around Bakhmut.
“We must all understand very clearly, as clearly as possible, that Russian forces in our southern and eastern lands are doing everything they can in order to stop our soldiers,” Zelenskiy said in his nightly video address after chairing a meeting with top commanders on Friday.
“And every thousand metres we advance, every success of every combat brigade deserves our gratitude.”
Reuters was unable to verify battlefield reports.
Thanks for that, Reuters.
Most of the media is now backing off simply reporting whatever Zelensky says as fact, given that this “counteroffensive” debacle showed just how wild the lies were.
They can keep talking about “battlefield reports,” but we can all go on “deep state map” and see what is going on. This is a map from Ukraine supporters. No one disagrees with it. The Ukraine has lost tens of thousands of men since June in order to temporarily occupy empty villages.
If you go on there now, you will find the Russians advancing on Kharkov.
I’ve not seen the exact numbers, but since June, if we’re just counting meters, the Ukraine has lost territory. Of course, that was always a meaningless metric, as the only thing that actually matters is the kill count. The Ukraine has largely exhausted itself.
